Bioreactors in the Swalm School of Chemical Engineering convert syngas to chemicals such as ethanol and acetic acid. Isolated cultures are being comparied to various systems such as suspended and attached growth reactors. Mark Zappi and Lew Brown of MSU have complementary research from DoE and are leading this effort.
